It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is only five days away. And, if you’re anything like me and have the spirit of good intention, but your procrastination gene is just as strong—then I know right about now you’re probably struggling with what to get or do for that special someone in your life.  And um fellas, while this post is for “everyone,” I’m especially talking to you. Yes, you! I need you guys to listen up, Lindas.

Time to take notes! I’m coming out of sabbatical to help ya’ll with the “dub” this Valentine’s Day. You’re about to get a taste of the lovey dovey Ty and all her simpness creativity. First things, first—less is more. You don’t have to go over-the-top with some grand expensive gesture. Remember that the love is in the details. Second, know that you can never go wrong with wine. There’s just something very romantic about it.

In fact, I’m pretty sure it should be a love language. I know it’s mine!

So, with the clock running down, I’ve put together a list of three easy ways to set the mood with a love potion called wine and show that special someone that you love, like, or hell are at leas somewhat interested in them.

Think Outside the Box

This gift idea can be as simple or artsy as you want it to be All you need are the following items:

  • Box (plain or decorated)
  • Some type of decorative filling
  • Bottle of Champagne (yes splurge on the real stuff not the sparkling) or your person’s favorite wine
  • Flowers
  • Special little gift

Now, you can get really creative with this box, but first be aware of the size you purchase. I opted for a smaller 12.25” x 8” memory box from Michael’s. With this size, I included a mini Champagne bottle instead, but know that you can use larger boxes to include more things. Aside from the flowers, I thought it would be cute to include a little gift. Maybe it’s jewelry or tickets to a concert. In my box, I chose two Champagne glasses to make the box a gift that everyone could enjoy. Oh, and don’t forget to include a nice little note, preferably handwritten. 😉

This is the kind of gift that you could have delivered to her job or waiting for her when she gets home.

Taste and See

Ok, so we’re about to turn it up a notch! It’s about to get real sexy with this remixed version of a blind tasting.  So, let me paint the picture for you! Set up a private (in-home) tasting for your boo. Line up three to five wine glasses. Pick a couple of wines (if they’re her favorite then bonus points for you) and pour about an ounce and half of each into the glasses. Next pick out some chocolates to pair each wine with. See photo above for set-up example. You can light some candles and get some roses to help create that romantic ambience. Then when it’s time for the tasting, sit her down, make sure she’s blindfolded, then you can have her take a sip of the wine and then feed her the chocolate. You see where I’m going?!

Make it a fun guessing game. What happens next is up to you….

Let the Bubbles Flow

If you thought that was hot, now we’re about to cap the night off with some bubbles! You can never go wrong with Champagne and strawberries. Now, I do want to remind you that not everything with bubbles is Champagne. Pay attention to the label, wine friends. And, why not splurge a little on Valentine’s Day and spend the extra coin on your boo. I also want to note that you can get regular strawberries or if you’re real fancy opt for the chocolate covered ones. Your choice! The Champagne and strawberries idea is very simple, but where you take it to the next level is setting it up maybe in a picnic style in the living room (or bedroom) or with a nice bubble bath.

Remember roses pedals and candles are your friends when it comes to bringing the romance.

These were just a couple of cute ideas to help set the mood on Valentine’s Day. And, just to add a little more to the vibe, I put together my Slow Wine with Me YGOM mix on my Apple Music page. Here’s a list of the songs if you can’t access the link. You can think me later!
