Self-Care: The Wine Way

I don’t know if it’s because I’m in my 30s now or I’m just that more aware of my feelings, but I’ve become extremely intentional in focusing on my overall well-being. You have to because these streets are rough! Every other day I feel like I’m getting drop-kicked with some new life lesson.

That’s why I think self-care is so important. It’s a personal investment that everyone should make a priority. In life, sometimes we give so much of ourselves to things like our jobs, relationships, family (you name it!) that we forget numero uno. That’s why we have to stay in tune with ourselves and the things that make us happy. Like wine for instance. I think I read somewhere that a glass a day keeps the stress away.

Like I always say, wine makes everything better and the first area of self-care that always comes to mind is beauty. Last year, I started randomly collecting different beauty products that were made from or for wine. And so, I thought it would be fun to do a post on self-care, but the wine way of course. Check out these wine-derful products that will have you feeling like your best self!

1. Red Wine Facial Masks

I don’t know about you, but I love a good spa treatment. There’s nothing like being pampered to help make you feel good when you’re not feeling so hot. However, everybody knows the spa ain’t cheap, so sometimes you gotta retreat to your home spa instead. I found a couple of red wine facial masks that you can use to ‘treat yo self’ on a budget.

  • Miss Spa Red Wine Face Mask ($3.99)
Pictured above, you can find this facial sheet mask at Target. It includes red wine extract, which neutralizes pollutants deep in your pours, leaving skin healthier. You just apply the mask to your face for 20 minutes and relax, relate, release!

  • TONYMOLY: I’m Real Wine Mask ($3.79)
The Tony Moly brand is another popular brand. It includes an individually wrapped mask that is also formulated with red wine extract to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores while tightening and purifying skin, giving you a healthier looking complexion in as little as 20 minutes. You can find this mask at places like Ulta Beauty or Urban Outfitters.
  • Lapcos Korean Beauty Red Wine Sheet Mask Set Of 2 ($7.98)
I’m telling you that stress hits differently in your 30s. I love that this nutrient-rich anti-aging helps improve elasticity and revitalize tired skin. If you tired all the time like me, then you’ll really enjoy this mask too. Developed by dermatologists in Korea, it’s infused with blueberry extract and red wine extracts, rich in antioxidants and thought to help restore collagen. This facial mask is available at World Market.

2. The Vanity Project Wine Wipes – 15 count ($6.99)

Self-care also means making sure you look presentable. We all love a good glass of red wine, but those red wine stains on your teeth aren’t cute! Try these wine wipes created especially for red wine drinkers and sommelier approved. These natural wipes remove red wine stains from your teeth and mouth without ruining your palate, so you can sip, wipe, and sip again. Packaging is also key! You can carry these on-the-go in a small compact that comes with a mirror, so no excuses the next time you’re out drinking red wine. You can find these wine wipes at Target.

3. Wine Block ($12.99)

Wine Block is the lip balm version of the wine wipes. Again, it prevents that dreaded purple hue you get on your lips & teeth after drinking your favorite glass of red wine. Protect yourself from anymore future embarrassment and take care of your wine smile. Apply before each glass. Each jar has approximately 30 applications. I believe I found Wine Block randomly at Francesca’s, but you can also order online.

4. Black Cherry Merlot Hand Sanitizer

I’m not the biggest fan of Bath & Body Works, but I thought their Black Cherry Merlot product line was cute. Their hand sanitizer is perfect for when you’re on-the-go and need to keep your hands fresh and clean.

5. Black Merlot Cherry Shea Butter Hand Cream ($5)

Bath & Body Works also has a hand cream made with shea butter that’s really good. Perfect for these cold winter months when your hands may be a little more dry. Say no to ash and take that extra step to stay lathered up.

So, there you have it…a couple examples of self-care the wine way. Yes, some of these products may be a little gimmicky, but who doesn’t enjoy a little wine to enhance their beauty. Moral of the story, you can incorporate ways to take better care of yourself even in the littlest things. Treat yourself in the way that best fits you. For me, my self-care language is wine. What’s yours? Let me know what you think of these products. Until next time….glasses up!
